What makes
Olaf clear so fast?
Olafs passive gives him bonus attack speed based on missing health, now combine that with the fact that his
Reckless Swing costs health while also having its cooldown reduced for every auto attack
Olaf does and you've got an insanely powerful clear. Also
Olafs
Undertow cooldown can be reduced by picking up his axe, which can be thrown into the wall and immediately picked up this way.
Is it worth to take tower shots for a faster clear?
I've been asked this question a lot and my answer is no, it's not worth. In this season you have way to little time before your first buff spawns. Also as minions come to lane early, laners will be there too so its just too easy to punish an
Olaf who walks up to a tower and takes a tower shot or two. The trade off is not worth it, especially considering that the clear is very fast already.
Which Runes are BEST for
Olaf?
Considering
Olaf has as very big attack speed steroid in his passive, going double
Adaptive Force is by far the best choice combined with
Health Scaling. Since
Olaf runs
Conqueror most of the times, going for
Legend: Alacrity is a great options as well!
What spell is best to start?

As mentioned in the beginning of the guide,
Olaf gets more attack speed the lower he is, so taking
Reckless Swing level one is the best option, as it gets him to low health, while also dealing a lot of damage. Of course if we took
Reckless Swing level one, the only option for level 2 is
Undertow. On level 3 if you want to be safer from invades, taking
Tough It Out is an option, but it does slow down the clear and I like to full clear with this champion, base buy items and look to fight on
Scuttle Crab, so in my opinion going two points in
Undertow and opting for the fastest possible first clear is the best choice.
Buying items before Scuttle Crab
As long as you finish the clear by 2:30 and base immediately, you will walk into river at 2:55, allowing you to fight any champion that starts it with item advantage. You can buy whatever items you want for 750g that you would have, but I personally recommend going for
Long Sword and
Ruby Crystal as they give you the best raw stats for a level 4 fight. Also you do have a free
Smite still!
Keep in mind that this clear is done by 2:29 and its far from perfect. So there is definitely room for mistakes and taking it easy and still being on time to base and buy items before
Scuttle Crab!
Important mechanics & Tips:
- Since your spells have really low cooldown, sometimes its better to just sit in place and spam them then trying to kite - look at the guide to see my movement
- Throwing you
Undertow into the wall next to you, hitting the camp and immediately picking up the axe without having to walk to it is very important, and takes a little bit of practice - If you are slower for whatever reason, you can still use your second
Smite, base, buy items and be on
Scuttle Crab in time with item advantage
